The prospect of 3 consecutive days/nights of severe weather (Friday
through Sunday) bring to mind that we could use some new blood for
SkyWARN net control.
Job requirements:
- ham radio license
- ability to get to Kenwood reasonably quickly (possibly the ROC in
Queensgate, if active)
- OR ability to create good signal into VHF and UHF repeaters we use,
from home/elsewhere
- ability to work in a high-noise (and potentially high stress) environment
- a "commanding" presence on the radio, when it's necessary
Nice-to-have:
- computer literacy (weather websites/apps especially)
- ability to keep cool if Willie, Seg, or other local "celebs" are nearby
- flexbility to attend on occasional start-up or wrap-up meeting at NWS
office in Wilmington
If this is of interest to you, please contact me directly (even this
holiday weekend) and we'll talk about it!
