G r r r r r r Greetings from the Weather Amateur Radio Network. Sorry - my
teeth were chattering! Keeping everyone informed of upcoming spotter
training has become one of more important tasks. So, in the middle of an
arctic cold snap, here we go.

We will be posting more information on our WARN.ORG web site over the next
couple of days, but I wanted to shoot this out ASAP since training is about
to start. There is one VERY IMPORTANT thing spotters wanting refresher
training (always a good idea) and those wanting to become spotters should
know. Budget cuts have taken a toll on the NWS funding for spotter
training. There will be fewer training classes available this year out of
the Wilmington office. Many people wait until later in the season and hope
a class will be added that may suit their needs. In all likelihood, the
classes currently listed on the NWS training schedule web page will be all
that are offered. It is doubtful more will be added. So, everyone is
strongly encouraged to look at the schedule and find the class that best
fits your schedule and mark it on your calendar. Classes currently listed
in the Cincinnati area are:

Warren County, January 30

Hamilton County, February 6

Boone County, February 11

Switzerland County, February 12

Pendleton County, February 18

Butler County, February 20

Clermont County, February 27

Campbell County, March 19

Hamilton County, March 28

Ripley/Franklin, County April 7

The full Wilmington, OH NWS training schedule can be viewed at
http://www.erh.noaa.gov/iln/training.php. Some of the details are just
being finalized, so you may have to check back for updates such as locations
or start times.

Better be prepared. When it's time for the cold winter weather to leave, it
may not do so without a fight!
