Some notes from the 2007 "wrap-up" meeting at the NWS office in Wilmington:

- all NWS offices have or will be installing Kenwood TS-570 HF rigs plus
HF antennas (wires). Apparently SkyWARN Recognition Day has shown the
value of low-band backup.

- check out http://drought.unl.edu/dm/monitor.html for information on
the ongoing drought that is impacting the Ohio Valley and parts of the
Southeast.

- the Climate Prediction Center is looking for La Niña conditions in
early 2008, which means temps and precip would be generally above average.

- SkyWARN recognition day will occur @ 0Z on 12/1 till 2359Z on 12/1
(7pm on 11/30 till 6:59pm on 12/1, Eastern Time).

- Winter Weather Awareness campaigns will be presented during the week
of November 12.

- across the entire Wilmington NWS County Warning Area, there were 11
SkyWARN "events", with an aggregate time of 33:45.

- The Warning Coordination Meteorologist (Mary Jo Parker) and the
Meteorologist-in-Charge (Ken Haydu) wanted us to communicate to you
their gratitude for your past, present, and future involvement in the
program. Drought = slow times for SkyWARN, but things have a way of
normalizing over time!
