THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WILL BE INSTALLING A NEW NOAA WEATHER
RADIO STATION IN OWENTON KENTUCKY.
THE NEW STATION...K Z Z 48...WILL HAVE A TRANSMITTER THAT OPERATES
ON AN ASSIGNED FREQUENCY OF 1 6 2 POINT 4 5 0 MEGAHERTZ...AT 300
WATTS OF POWER. THE TRANSMITTER WILL SERVE RESIDENTS IN NORTHERN
KENTUCKY AND SOUTHEAST INDIANA...AND WILL PROVIDE REGULAR
SCHEDULED BROADCASTS...AND TONE ACTIVATION FOR WARNINGS AND WATCHES.
EFFECTIVE JUNE 30, 2002, AN OFFICIAL BROADCAST SERVICE AREA
WILL BE ESTABLISHED FOR THE OWENTON KENTUCKY TRANSMITTER, THAT
INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES...
IN KENTUCKY...CARROLL...GALLATIN...GRANT...OWEN AND PENDLETON.
IN INDIANA...SWITZERLAND.
THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES WILL NO LONGER BE UNDER THE BROADCAST
SERVICE AREA FOR THE COVINGTON KENTUCKY TRANSMITTER AT
K I H 42...ON THE FREQUENCY OF 1 6 2 POINT 5 5 0 MEGAHERTZ. THE
1050 HERTZ TONE ALARM...WILL NOT BE ACTIVATED FOR THE FOLLOWING
KENTUCKY AND INDIANA COUNTIES.
CARROLL...GALLATIN...GRANT...OWEN...PENDLETON AND SWITZERLAND.
BUT...IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM PLAN...THE SAME
ALERT TONE...WILL CONTINUE TO BE ACTIVATED FOR THE SAME
COUNTIES LISTED ABOVE IN KENTUCKY AND INDIANA.
ON OCCASION...THE BROADCAST PROGRAMMING FROM OWENTON MAY BE HEARD IN
NEARBY KENTUCKY COUNTIES OF...HARRISON...HENRY...FRANKLIN...
SCOTT AND SHELBY. THEREFORE, THE SAME ALERT TONE WILL BE
ACTIVATED FROM THE NEW TRANSMITTER SITE FOR THESE COUNTIES.

INDIANA...AND WEST CENTRAL OHIO, AND ALSO WILL PROVIDE REGULAR

W X J 46...ON A FREQUENCY 1 6 2 POINT 4 7 5 MEGAHERTZ, THE 1050 HERTZ
TONE ALARM...AND SAME ALERT TONE WILL CONTINUE TO BE ACTIVATED
FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES IN INDIANA AND OHIO...
