A N N O U N C I N G !!

The annual WARN sponsored severe weather spotter course will be held
Friday,
March 31, 2000. This course is the full spotter course as taught by the
National Weather Service. Participants will be registered as SkyWarn
spotters at this session. In addition to the full spotter training
agenda,
this session will include all the information necessary for amateur radio
operators to participate in severe weather nets when activated by the
national weather service. All amateur radio equipped spotters in the
Cincinnati Section (19 counties of Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio surrounding
Cincinnati) are strongly encouraged to attend this meeting.

For anyone who has attended this session in the past, you know it is a lot
of fun, as well as educational. One big question is "What song will WARN
Vice President Rob Reider parody this year?" You'll have to attend to
find
out! Also, get the official scoop on the April 9, 1999 tornadoes direct
from NWS meteorologists, and hear how ham radio played an important role.
Remember, the NWS requests that all spotters attend a training session at
least every 2-3 years to maintain current certification and skills.
